Nothing better to do on a snowy day...

Since it was snowing yesterday I had nothing better to do than bake. I was looking all over the internet for different recipes. The one I finally decided to make was pumpkin whoopie pies with a cream cheese filling (http://ohmysugarhigh.com/mini-pumpkin-whoopie-pies-with-cream-cheese-filling/). Before I found this recipe I had no clue what a whoppie pie was. The best way I can describe it is it’s almost like an Oreo Cakester. Overall the whoopie pies were good, but I would definitely add a little more pumpkin and make them thinner next time.

Christmas Tree Cake Pops

This was the first time that I have ever made cake pops. I have been wanting to try and make some since I got a book on them a couple of months ago. For my first time making them i think that htey came out great. In my Spanish class we were having a party before winter break so I decided to make these. On the inside is vanilla cake mixed with vanilla frosting. The green outside is made from melted white chocolate candy coating. the ornaments and the star are made out of sprinkles. they were much easier to make than i thought they would be.

(All of them wrapped up and ready. There were about 24)

Cupcakes

Over the summer my grandmothers friend asked me to help her make cupcakes for her grandaughters birthday party. The first one (pig) is frosted in buttercream, has chocolate chips for eyes, has marshmallows for ears, and has a piped nose. To get it that color pink we youed cake spray paint ( it was really cool and was made by Duff from Ace of Cakes. She bought it at Michales or A.C. Moore). The Second cupcake had piped buttercream grass and drop flowers. This cupcake also had a dinosaur gummy candy on top. The third cupcakewas the same except it didnt have a dinosaur on top and had leaves with the drop flowers. The last picture is of all of the cupcakes we made that day.

At the begining of the school year I bought a couple of cupcake books and this cupcake was in one so i decided to make it for my senior project clsss. The cupcakes are vanilla and I used vanilla frosting. The head is made out of a dounut hole and the tail is made out of a cut marshmallow. The eyes are mini m&m's and the beak is made out of a star burst.

Cakes for other people...

This cake was the very first cake I made to give away to someone. I made this for my grandmother to bring to her friend who had just moved into a new home. The cake is vanilla with almond buttercream. The borders, roses, leaves, writing, and bow are also made out of almond buttercream.

I made this cake for my neighbors birthday last February. The cake is chocolate with vanilla buttercream. I decorated it with marshmallow fondant that I made. For all the flowers i used a cookie cutter to cut them out of fondant. I used the rest of the almond buttercream to pipe the border and the little white dots in the centers of the flowers. For the flower on top I wrapped a toothpick in green fondant then piped on leaves and added the flower.

I made this cake for my best friends 17th birthday in August. It is made out of chocolate cake and decorated with fondant. On the board I piped music notes out of chocolate frosting. The only thing on this cake that wasnt edible was the strings which i made out of sewing thread.

For my Uncle Craig's birthday in August he asked me to make him a kayak cake that looked similar to the kayak he has. The cake is made out of pound cake and is iced with almond buttercream. After I carved it the cake was falling apart a little so I covered it with ganache that I had made so it would harden around the cake and hold its shape. The kayak is covered with marshmallow fondant and the water is made out of a mixture of almond buttercream and piping gel. I made the paddle out of a toothpick dipped in ganache and little pieces of fondant. For the dirt/beach I used crushed up oreos. For the rocks I used the left over ganache and rolled them into truffles.

I was hired to make this cake for my moms friends moms birthday in October. This cake was chocolate with vanilla buttercream and decorated with fondant. For the border I used one of my decorating tips to cut pieces out, then I rolled them into little balls. For the zebra and cheetah print I cut each stripe/spot out of fondant.

I was hired to make this cake for my neighbors birthday. It is decorated in all buttercream except for the goals (My mom bought the goals for me at the craft store). For the grass I used the grass tip and piped all of it.

I was hired to make this cake for my Senior Project teacher in October. She had family coming to her house and she wanted a cake. The top cheetah print cake was vanilla and the zebra was choclate. Both cakes had almond buttercream and were decorated in fondant.

My Wilton Cakes

These are all of the cakes I made while taking the Wilton classes. I took all of the classes except for the fondant and gum paste class. I plan on taking it at some point though, I just haven't had time.

^ This cake was my very first cake that i used fondant.

My very first cake...

This is the very first Wilton class cake I made and it was also the very first cake I made from scratch. The cake was chocolate chip cake with a vanilla buttercream. This cake was from November 2009.
